  YELLOW RIBBON CAMPAIGN OF IDAHO

The Yellow Ribbon Campaign of Idaho wishes to recognize and honor each combat troop from the State of Idaho that is serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.  We do so by making a separate Yellow Ribbon for each one, that is 2½ inches wide and about 5 to 6 feet long.  Each Yellow Ribbon will display Troop’s DAY of DEPARTURE from the United States, RANK, NAME, UNIT and COUNTRY serving in.  It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that we receive ALL THE NAMES of the troops who are serving over there from the State of Idaho.  For this to be carried out, we need to depend on you to supply us with this information.

All the Yellow Ribbons will be displayed in secure public buildings.  Upon their return, their Yellow Ribbon will be removed from the display.  At the airport a Color Guard, family, friends and other vets will be there to greet the soldier.  He or she will then be presented with their own Yellow Ribbon to show thanks, gratitude and honor from the people of Idaho.

Accompanying the Yellow Ribbons is a roster of all the ribbon holders and their overseas mailing address.  This offers the public all information necessary to reach out with a note or letter thanking them for the sacrifices they have made to help keep us safe and free.  These addresses will hopefully be used by the public to send CARE PACKAGES.  These PACKAGES contain a collection of everyday things we have here, but they don’t have or couldn’t get there.

The Yellow Ribbon Campaign of Idaho is a non-profit organization endorsed by veteran service organizations throughout the state.  The Yellow Ribbon Campaign of Idaho assists family members by paying for the mailing cost of CARE PACKAGES to our troops over there.  We are trying to help not only the troops but also their families here.

In order to gain funding, the Yellow Ribbon Campaign of Idaho needs donations for car magnets, lapel pins, etc.  Checks should be made out to YELLOW RIBBON CAMPAIGN OF IDAHO.  The donated monies are deposited into a separate bank.

Our WAR ON TERRORISM shows tribute and respect of our troops.  The Yellow Ribbon Campaign of Idaho presents the FIELD OF HEROES.  On that FIELD OF HEROES, we display a named cross for each of our casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq.  We also display the ten IDAHO POWs still in VIETNAM and the twelve POWs in IRAQ.  For each of there missing military personnel there is a hand made black bayoneted rifle placed in the ground representing that they have not been forgotten.

CURRENTLY, POCATELLO IS THE ONLY COMMUNITY IN THE NATION TO HAVE SUCH A DISPLAY ON THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

The American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, VFW, DAV, Marine Corps League and the Fleet Reserve Association have selected John Rogers as the Yellow Ribbon Campaign Coordinator.  The information on who and when of the next return, should be given to him to make sure the ribbons are made out.  He can be contacted at:
